Social Media Video Is #1 on AdCracker's Top 10 Creative Advertising Ideas
The social media video "PlaneMob" for the German discount airline Germanwings is #1 on AdCracker.com's annual list of the world's top 10 creative advertising ideas.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA, February 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The video "PlaneMob" for the German discount airline Germanwings is #1 on AdCracker.com's annual list of the world's top 10 creative advertising ideas.

"PlaneMob is the first project that was created specifically for social media to make our annual top 10 list, let alone to make #1," said Steve McNamara, Creative Director at AdCracker.com. "It's original. It's persuasive. And funny. Perhaps best, it didn't cost a lot of money."

To create the video, ad agency Lukas Lindemann Rosinski, of Hamburg, Germany, sent six confederates aboard a competitor's airline. During the flight, the confederates raised hand-held signs, as if in conversation, that complain about hefty fees. All of this was captured on a hand-held video camera.

"The advertising technique in this video is an attack on a competitor airline, in the competitor's own plane. And it's done with robust humor," says McNamara. "The consumer insight from the creative brief is that people don't like the sting of airline fees, which adds to the stress of flying."

PlaneMob debuted on YouTube with over 200,000 views in the first few days.
